LaTanya Richardson Jackson and Kara Younger are among the many full forged introduced right this moment for the Broadway switch of Steppenwolf Theatre Firm’s manufacturing of Branden Jacobs-Jenkins’ play Objective, directed by two-time Tony Award-winner Phylicia Rashad.
Along with Richardson (A Raisin within the Solar) and Purlie Victorious Tony-winner Younger, the forged will embrace Harry Lennix (TV’s The Blacklist), Jon Michael Hill (Broadway’s Move Over), Glenn Davis (Off Broadway’s Downstate), and Alana Arenas (The Bluest Eye).
Arenas, Davis, Hill, and Lennix all appeared within the play’s acclaimed world premiere at Steppenwolf in Chicago in March 2024.
Objective will play a restricted 19-week run on the Helen Hayes Theater with previews starting February 25, adopted by an official opening on March 17. The engagement runs by way of July 6, 2025.
The official synopsis: “For many years, the influential Jasper household has been a pillar of Black American Politics: civil rights leaders, pastors and congressmen. However like all households, there are cracks and secrets and techniques just below the floor. When the youngest son Nazareth returns residence with an uninvited buddy in tow, the household is compelled right into a reckoning with itself, its religion and the legacies of Black political energy and familial obligation. Spirited, hilarious and crammed with intrigue, Objective is an epic household drama from one of many nation’s most celebrated voices.”
