At the least three individuals, together with a Hezbollah member, have reportedly been killed within the Lebanese capital
The Israel Protection Forces (IDF) have carried out an airstrike in Beirut’s southern Dahieh suburb on Tuesday. The operation is the biggest escalation between Israel and Hezbollah since a truce was signed in November.
In a press release on X on Tuesday, the IDF stated that its jets have focused “a Hezbollah terrorist” who has “lately been directing Hamas operatives and helping them in an try to hold out a critical assault” towards Israeli civilians.
“The terrorist posed an actual and fast risk, and due to this fact the IDF and Shin Wager have acted to remove the risk,” the Israeli navy stated.
The Lebanese TV channel Al Mayadeen reported that the strike “flattened” a multistory residential constructing, killing no less than three individuals and injuring seven others. The channel cited its sources as saying that “a daily member” of Hezbollah has been killed.

Hezbollah chief Naim Qassem condemned the renewed Israeli strikes on Saturday. “This aggression should finish. We can’t permit this to proceed,” he stated, as quoted by AFP.
On Friday, the IDF carried out its first main airstrikes in Beirut since November 2023. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the assault was a retaliation for rockets fired by Hezbollah from Lebanon.
“We won’t permit any firing on our communities, not even a drizzle,” he warned. “We’ll assault wherever in Lebanon towards any risk to Israel, and we’ll be sure that all of us within the north return to their houses safely.”
Hezbollah has been firing rockets and mortars at Israel in response to the IDF’s operation towards Hamas in Gaza. In September 2024, Israel stepped up its airstrikes within the Lebanese capital, killing a number of prime Hezbollah officers, together with the group’s longtime chief, Hassan Nasrallah.
